Eaton Canyon

I don’t feel like writing a whole lot today, but this post is about the Eaton Canyon field trip I went last Thursday with my Geology 1 class. I didn’t expect to walk three miles, and it was very tiring indeed! I think I went to sleep at 10:30 a.m. last night, which is the earliest I’ve slept in a long time.

To celebrate my brother’s 24th birthday last night, my mom, my brother, my aunt, and I went to Din Tai Fung to eat last night. If you don’t know, Din Tai Fung is one of the most popular dumpling places around. They make all their dumplings fresh by hand, and you can see the people working on them in the kitchen when you step into their restaurant. They only have a few locations in the world, and two of them are in Arcadia, California – the city that I live in. Just how awesome is that? Haha.

Din Tai Fung

To tell you the truth, I didn’t know that Arcadia had opened another, but they did. They opened one behind the old one, and the new one is so much bigger. The decor of this new one is also a lot more beautiful – almost like a five star restaurant if it isn’t already! They even have a second floor to it, and that was packed last night as well as the first floor. It’s really amazing how many people go to Din Tai Fung for their dumplings, especially at the price they are selling them. (Let me tell you, it’s not cheap for dumplings.)

Brother's Birthday Cake

It isn’t a birthday without a cake, so my mom bought my brother a chocolate cake from the bakery inside 99 Ranch Market. This cake is called “Black Forest,” and it is so freaking good. I love Asian cake sometimes because their chocolate sweetness isn’t that sweet, but then it’s still good nonetheless. I had another slice of it this morning, and ahh, I just love it. Heheh.

Today’s my brother’s 24th birthday, so I’ll keep this part of the Anime Expo update very short! It’s almost to the end anyways, so I might as well get it done, right? Well, this part are just the pictures I’ve taken with the Guests of Honor: David Hayter (American voice actor for Snake from the Metal Gear Solid video game series) and Shoko Nakagawa (Japanese pop singer for the anime Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann).

David Hayter and myself. When I was waiting in line, they said that there are no photographs, no hugs, and no handshakes allowed. However, he offered them when I got up there, so how can you refuse?! He’s really a nice and down-to-earth person. He kept on doing his Snake voice on the panel. It was so hilarious. (And whoever helped me take these photographs is AWESOME.)

Shoko Nakagawa and myself. The first time was right after her concert, so I told her that her concert was great because it really was. She was so happy about it. Then the second time was open autographs on Sunday. I told her that her cosplayers are awesome because they really are (I mean, just look at them), and the translator told me that she spends all her money on them. Haha!
